Every SIM in Fleet Master follows a defined lifecycle that ensures proper tracking, assignment, and disposal of telecom assets. These statuses reflect the current operational state of each SIM and control the available actions.

Lifecycle statuses support:

  • Transparent SIM assignment and return
  • Complete audit trail of usage
  • Billing logic and service cost traceability
  • Company ownership and transfer workflows

This section details each lifecycle status and outlines how a SIM transitions through different operational stages.

Status Details

Waiting

  • Meaning: SIM created in the system but not yet verified.
  • Actions Allowed: Edit details, upload documents.
  • Next Step: Admin verifies and moves it to Standby.

Standby

  • Meaning: SIM verified and placed in storage.
  • Use Case: Holding phase before it’s needed operationally.
  • Next Step: Move to Ready to Allocate.

Ready to Allocate

  • Meaning: SIM is available to be assigned to a fleet or device.
  • Next Step: Initiate Assignment form.
  • Required Fields: Fleet, assignment date, optional notes/project.

Assigned

  • Meaning: Assignment submitted and pending approval.
  • Next Step: Reviewed by approver and either approved or rejected.
  • Note: Marks the beginning of usage timeline.

Approved

  • Meaning: Assignment confirmed by authorized approver.
  • Next Step: Executed after physical handover and fleet signature.

Executed

  • Meaning: SIM is active and officially in use.
  • Next Steps: SIM can be Returned, Transferred, or Written Off.

Returned

  • Meaning: SIM returned from a user or project.
  • Next Step: Map back to a warehouse/rack location.
  • Signature: Fleet sign-off is required.

Transfer

  • Meaning: SIM transferred to another warehouse or entity.
  • Fields: New warehouse, transfer date, optional notes.
  • Audit: Lifecycle remains but under a different ownership.

Company Transferred

  • Meaning: SIM transferred to another company or entity.
  • Fields: New company, transfer date, optional notes.
  • Audit: Lifecycle remains but under a different ownership.

Write-Off Pending

  • Meaning: SIM marked for decommission (e.g., lost, damaged, expired).
  • Trigger: Initiated by asset team.
  • Next Step: Approval process through dashboard.

Write-Off Approved

  • Meaning: SIM permanently archived and removed from active inventory.
  • State: Read-only; cannot be reassigned or edited.

Best Practices

  • Always validate SIM details before moving out of Waiting status.
  • Use Ready to Allocate only for SIMs that are physically in storage.

  • Avoid duplicate SIM or mobile numbers by enforcing validations.
